Anima (アニマ Anima?) is the name of a essence from Tales of the Rays. It is considered unknown to the people of the world, but is considered something like a soul—as when lost, the lost substance becomes a sand of light. It is related to the chiral particles found in the atmosphere and in wildlife. Anima is also used to refer to the process of the bodies becoming sand and therefore plays a part with the effects created from the negative magic mirror weapons. An essence present in all living things. Those who lose it turn into shining dust. Some might even call it a soul. Chiral particles, mysterious energy particles found in Tir Na Nog. They copy the anima of their target, transforming the copy into more chiral particles. It can create infinite copies and thus infinite energy.
The term Anima most likely derives from the Latin term for the "animating principle". It can refer to vitality; is a discredited scientific hypothesis that "living organisms are fundamentally different from non-living entities because they contain some non-physical element or are governed by different principles than are inanimate things" or the Latin translation of the Greek "psyche";is the totality of the human mind, conscious and unconscious. Psychology is the scientific or objective study of the psyche. The word has a long history of use in psychology and philosophy, dating back to ancient times, and represents one of the fundamental concepts for understanding human nature from a scientific point of view. The English word soul is sometimes used synonymously, especially in older texts. It can also refer to religious views on soul or a mechanism which allows a body to become automated. It is referred to as expressions of the unconscious or true inner self of an individual in Carl Jung's school of analytical psychology.
